Eltnaïm
The Eltnaïm are a semi-humanoid, vaguely reptilian species of low to very high intelligence. They are silicon-based extremophiles that survive off of magma in Elbikrä’s active volcano system, and they live on average between 1,000 and 1,500 years. They are about 2-3 feet in height/length. They navigate through active magma chambers and tubes by radar in a process similar to echolocation, cutting through dense molten rock with ease.
Each volcano and associated cave system on Elbikrä (Iba, Isok, Rädda, Tun, Kolu, Räffa, Lési, and Léddo) is ruled by a different monarchal family. In addition, each volcanic system is linked to a different deity in the S’Eltnaïm pantheon, but there are no set state religions and individuals and communities may choose any number of gods and goddesses to worship as they see fit. They have carved out massive, elaborate underground cities into the magma chambers and caves beneath Elbikrä’s surface, and steel production from magma has been in play for millennia; this has allowed for vast technological advancement and the use of geothermal energy in generating electricity. The Eltnaïm also have an extensive public education system meant to train their youth for entering the ever-expanding engineering workforce.
The Eltnaïm have no seafaring capabilities and cannot survive above-ground, requiring the intense heat and pressure of the volcanoes to survive. As such, they are completely culturally isolated and have never met the other inhabitants of Eir. They have an oral and written language called S'Eltnaïm.
