Feerrott
The Feerrott is a rain forest covering the south eastern hills of Tharron. The forest is ancient and the trees are covered in vines and dangling epiphytes. The region has two main sections: the western highlands and the eastern lowlands (also known as the Upper and Lower Feerrott).
The cloud forest of the highlands is covered in butte-like limestone mountains separated by valleys. The region is home to clouded leopards, moon bears, and the ogres of Oggok, a city along the upper Greenblood river. The eastern approach to the Sphinxes' Pass begins here as well, allowing passage over the Rathe Mountains to the Cliffs of Rujark. The highlands also are home to the apefolk, apes of near human intelligence (cf. the apes from Princess Mononoke). They construct simple lean-to structures. They are highly shamanic. They are found throughout the highlands in small camps. They use stone-age weapons in their war against the ogres of Oggok. They generally worship Tunare. They have a camp around a mountaintop Cairn.
The eastern lowlands is covered in dense undergrowth, heavily reducing visibility and hindering movement for most characters who leave the paths. The region is also dotted with cenotes. It is home to the rival Tae Ew (Thule) and Vol Ew (Tunare) lizard folk tribes. The Lost Temple of Thule is located at the bottom of an enormous cenote known as the Hole. It is guarded by the Allize Taeew who have camps around the Hole. Also in the lowlands, where the Greenblood river begins spreading into the Innothule Swamp, an ancient stone city slumbers partially reclaimed by trees and vines. These are the Ruins of Old Guk.
The Eastern Lowlands are also home to Quin'Kanlun, the starting settlement for the Quin'Dal.
