The Pagloan Mastiff - Paggly - Smoke Dog

The Pagloan Mastiff is a small to medium size, stocky dog, standing about two feet at the shoulder, weighing 45 - 55 pounds. It is the most sought after dog breed on Eilea. Pagglies are easily recognizable, with a smoother face than other mastiff species, but the typical round muzzle, and a consistent coloring. Pagglies have a medium ruddy coat with a black undercoat which people often say make pagglies look like they are made of fire and smoke, tending to their moniker smoke dog.   The breeding of pagglies was begun by Lorend Mastiff and deemed finished by his grandson Koel, shortly after Koel's branding. How the Mastiffs were able to enhance the mental network of pagglies is unknown, the ability unstudied due to its secrecy from public, but pagglies are admired due to the other consistent qualities the Mastiffs were able imbue in the breed.   Pagglies do not suffer from the myriad afflictions that can be found in the various other mastiff breeds. The temperament of pagglies makes them ideal for any occupation, from lap dog, to guard dog, to herd dog, to seeing eye - companion animal. They are highly intelligent yet trainable. They are also patient, non-barking and have health, strength and stamina seen often in mixed breeds, yet rarely in purebreds.   Because of their affability and popularity, and because of their efficacy as guard dogs, pagglies are found in sensitive areas and the homes of the world's elite, the primary goal of the Mastiff family. There are of course all of the other breeds of dogs found throughout the world, however, the breeding program of the Mastiffs have somehow left pagglies incompatible with cross breeding with other domestic dog breeds. This has been noted by dog lovers and they theorize pagglies are somehow something other than domestic canines. Little do they know, and how terrified they would be to meet the canine denizens of the Piigpen.
