#55 Approaching the Obsidian Citadel
General Summary
The Adventurers continue to travel near the road, using the flames as cover. They eventually approach the central Obsidian citadel itself. They watch one of the carts being carried along the road approach the fortress, but never enter. They deduce that it was emptied of its contents via magic.
They decide to pursue the cart, which leads them to a building hewn out of a massive boulder. Within, they see the Hezrou leading the cart pull a lever to shrink the cart and then send it down a small tunnel system. After some deliberation, the party uses the same magic device to shrink themselves and head the opposite direction down the tunnel. While doing so, they encounter a group of fiery ants, which attach them. They fight off the ants and continue down the tunnel, eventually reaching a lone bridge guarded by a six armed creature with the body of a snake and the head of a woman.
They determine that there are 3 hours left while they will be shrunk, so they take a short rest and then descend from the small tunnel down to the entrance proper. From there, they turn around to head up the much larger tunnel that leads down to the bridge.
