#47 Journeys Through Fields of Fire
General Summary
Having arrived in the Eternal Flame, but with minimal bearing, the party contacts Kyrecia Aeliro via the sending stones she gave them. She tells them that she is 50 miles northwest of Reezolahg. Not knowing what Reezolahg is, Draktus Glayde uses a needle and some water to determine a rough idea of magnetic North, and they head off in a northwesterly direction through the fields of fire.
During their travels, Draktus had notices an odd twisting sense of dread followed by thrill at the end of each day, and it had become bad enough to physically harm him. Tia Tsukiko recognized this, and, with some reluctance, Draktus allowed her to cast Great Restoration on him, which seemed to resolve the issue.
During the two "nights", they encamp in fields of fire, they find their Leomund's Tiny hut slowly surrounded by the fires while they rested. They were able to escape when they awoke both times. During the second night Korradin Xerthall attempted to communicate with the fires in abyssal, and while they seemed to be somewhat responsive, he was unable to convince them to leave or learn anything more about them.
After two more days of travel (now Marpenoth the 26th), during which they briefly began trailing of captives along the side of the mountain pass before being warned not to by Kyrecia, they reached the top of the mountain range and found themselves atop a rocky plateau. Slightly further, they find a massive seemingly bottomless abyss, several hundred feet below them. It seems to extend as far as they can see to the Northwest, thogh Tia thinks she barely makes out something green in that direction. They decide to drop down to the road and follow it. After going along for a short while, they see what appears to be a mass of floating rock hovering over the abyss a couple of miles away. Shortly after a stream of fire extends from it to the road. Just as this is happening, they notice a an ape-like, orange and blue creature coming down the road towards them.
