#42 Something Missed

The party explores the hidden elevator shaft, finding nothing concerning, they begin to step onto it. As Tia steps over, she sees a vision of a tall woman dressed in white, telling her that there was something she missed. She finds herself back on the road outside of Karthanc , along with Aelen and Korradin. Draktus is nowhere to be found.
They once again see the body of a man in bronze armor north of the road. They go up to him and find that the two overlapping broken rings on his chest are again glowing red and he appears to be dead. Tia casts revivify, brining him back to life. He gives his name as Rodier, and tells them about being chased by an oozing creature. Based on the description, Tia and Korradin suspect it may be an Oblex.
They retrace Rodier's steps, and find two more dead men in bronze armor. They reach a cave, where they are attacked by two amorphous slime creatures. They beat back the creatures and manage to stay mostly outside of melee range, finally slaying them with Sickening Radiance. Inside the cave, they find a thin wall. Using Shape Stone, Korradin opens a passage in the wall, leading into a basalt room.
The room is empty save for 7 glass spheres and a obsidian cube on a natural rock shelf. Five of the sphere have images of people floating in them, the other 2 are empty. Korradin pickups of the obsidian cube and experiences a vision of an illithid walking into the cave through passage leading underground. The illithid appears to use the cube to animate two Oblexes, then returns down the passage, where the vision ends.
Aelen picks up each of the spheres, instead of experiencing a vision, the background fills in and the 3d image comes to life within the sphere. Four of the five sphere are the last moments of explorerse being slain by the Oblexes, but one--an image of an old man with receding white hair--shows him tied to a tree begging for release. Standing next to him is Mirkon who tells him, "You know the price of crossing my employer, there are no exceptions". The man is then consumed by the Oblex. Tia casts identify on one of the spheres, determing that they are devices for storring memories. It also reveals a small golden inscription of two broken rings on the bottom of the sphere.
Immediately after leaving the cave, Aelen and Korradin find themselves back in the hidden elevator. Before returning, Tia again sees the image of Sylvia telling her well done.
