Origin

The dwarves trace their creation back to the beginning of days. The Dwarves claim Retick God of the Dwarves, Smithing created the animals(there is some debate) and he loved some of them and enjoyed their company so much he took the animal and made it more like him. He imparted into them the sparks of creation and thought. This is the origin of the Dwarven Clans. He cared for them and showed them how to craft and find fulfillment in the process and ensured that each of the clans maintained their connections to their animal. He gave to each clan a place in Eglorix and made sure they had what they needed. This sparked some tension as some of these areas were contested by the other Gods and their people. The War of the Gods brought the tensions to the forefront. The gifts bestowed by Retick, shown brightly in the conflict but much life was lost, according to legend some clans were wiped out entirely. When the conflict ended and The Accords were signed, the clans leaned on their family most and thrived in the 1st age where the struggled without the direct guidance of their God.

Subraces

There are two major types of Dwarves, Clansmen and Freemen. The Clansmen can trace their bloodline directly back to creation( or at least the Clan Father ) and know where they are in the lineage of the clan. The Clan blood provides strength, power, and family. Where the Freemen claim simply they are children of Retick and his blessings are enough. There is some occasional tension between the two but seldom results in bloodshed. There are those that say the Freemen are Clans lost in the War of the Gods, some say it is from the mixing of the bloodlines.

Clans

The bloodline and heritage of the Clan are of great importance. The dwarf with the purest blood gets the greatest share of Retick's blessings to that clan and is the leader or Clan Father.
