The human-kentier conflict that lead to the creation of official land borders.

Lord Askith, then ruler of the Nacado city-state, was not satisfied with the current trade agreements with the Kentier of the lands immediately adjacent to his own. He perceived their lands as more fertile and valuable, and the kentier as ignorant children squandering their value.   Expecting no resistance from the peaceful kentier, Lord Askith ordered his soldiers to cross the Life River and force the kentier of the nearest settlement to give up their lands and pledge allegiance to Nacado. The kentier resisted, and the ensuing conflict saw many casualties on both sides. The surviving kentier fled further into their native lands, leading Askith to believe he had been victorious.   Askith immediately began plans for developing his new territory, but only a few weeks later the kentier returned. Those who had fled after the initial conflict were joined by the members of several other villages. Armed only with farm tools and make-shift weapons, the guerrilla force descended upon the soldiers and peasants occupying their lands with enough ferocity to force a retreat.   Several smaller skirmishes followed, with the kentier proving their dedication and ability to protect their ancestral lands. Eventually, even Askith was forced to admit a stalemate and agreed to meet with kentier elders to broker peace.   The result was a treaty that marked the Life River as a permanent border between kentier and human lands, though allowed peaceful travel to continue between the two nations.
