Shouri Malora

Empress of Feihon

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Firstborn of the ruling house of Laintera, Shouri was raised as any princess should be. She wanted for nothing, and her parents doted upon her. In their eyes she could do no wrong, and so all those below her in the kingdom bowed to her every whim.   Those that knew Shouri as a child wrote of her either with glowing praise, or as a spoiled girl who would throw a fit should anything displease her. Her every wish was granted, or risk facing her wrath. So perhaps it is of little surprise that when, upon taking the throne, she asked for an empire, rather than merely a kingdom, her generals did as she asked.   She took first the small, neighboring kingdom of Kashal, whose mountains blocked her route to the rest of the continent. Then, her intentions made clear and written in the blood of any who opposed her, she offered the other elven nations a chance to join her new empire peacefully. If they did not agree, she led her armies in to take what was denied her by force.   They say that she stood with her forces on the battlefield many times, and relished in the fight. Or perhaps she only relished in claiming more of the world with each victory.   Shouri eventually took as a husband one of her greatest generals. It is unknown whether this was a love match or a political one, as the general was not Lainteran by birth and she was known to take many lovers from among her troops. She bore two daughters and a son, but gave her full attention only to the daughters, whom she expected to take over after her eventual death.   After a long and bloody reign, Empress Shouri Malora died abed, passing on the crown to her eldest daughter. The empire was declared a matriarchy.

Education

Shouri was provided with the best tutors that her kingdom could provide. She studied history, language, politics, etiquette, dance, and much more. In all of these she flourished, taking particularly quickly to her lessons in history and politics. In adulthood, which many of her lessons concluded, she began training in various martial arts as well as military tactics despite the fact that her country had been at peace for centuries. In these she excelled as well, favoring her lessons in swordsmanship above all others.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Though known best for her military exploits and the conquest of her empire, Shouri also penned several books during her lifetime. Her books of political and military theory are still read by people in those fields, and she also published an autobiography toward the end of her life.

Failures & Embarrassments

The greatest failure of Shouri's life, in her own estimation, was her inability to completely pacify Aswea. Only they continued to mount resistance no matter how many times the faced defeat. She was known to fly into rages when reports of rebel activity reached her, and redoubled her efforts at conquest no matter how many soldiers she lost in vain attempts at forging the mountainous jungles. Propaganda campaigns were launched at her order, claiming that Aswea was under her control - a complete falsehood. But it was important to the newly crowned empress that she should either have the whole world under her command, or at the very least her people should believe so.

Intellectual Characteristics

Shouri was incredibly intelligent and showed this from a young age. She was particularly apt to the fields of language and logic, despite her highly emotional personality.
