Blood in the Water
The story of Blood in the Water can either be seen as Empire propaganda or as a love story depending on your political opinions, but at it's core, it is a piece of fanfiction upon the reality of how the Emperor Casimir met Pierre Rostova. It is unclear to what extent the story veers from reality as there is very little of those who could decisively tell what is truth from what is lies that aren't under control of the state.
Summary
In Laguarda there is a savage tradition that speaks that one of their own must be sacrificed to save the fall of the nation. Every 20 years they pick and child from their ranks and lead a lamb carelessly to the slaughter. They raise that child onto a pedastool, ridding them of a childhood and forcing them to become their deity. They parade that person around, and cheer for their demise.
On the 56th time, that was Pierre Rostova. Small, purple-haired boy that stood out from the crowd with hope and love in his heart, he wanted to save his family from the fate of poverty and his country from oblivion. He took on the role, and the duties he needed to fill that roll. He did everything he needed to, journaling his entire trip. Amongst his duties he had to see every town of believers and speak to them, understand them, and thus he crossed the border into the young Nezuroban Empire.
Emperor Casimir was but a boy at the time, and a young one. He had duties and places cut out for him but he did not yet owe the crown nor was it owed to him. He still was loyal to his people and chose to decend from the palace and see to the masses. He wanted to understand what this deity meant to the people who praised him.
