Lujahz - The Southern Shield

OVERVIEW:

A newly formed kingdom, it is not recognized by most cartographers, or even have been noticed by any other nation other than Gothmyr. Up until recently, Lujahz was ruled by an unbeknownst usurper to the throne. The De Lujahz family lost their patron, and the rest of the children and females were killed (or thought so) by a warlord. The remaining son Andru Baremtian, but he would or should be in his eighties, but doesn't look a day over forty winters.

HISTORY:

Delujahz was founded by Lujahz Baremtian II. A warrior poet born in the 5th Age. Lujahz fought hard and cleared the land of both tree and monster and founded the capitol city. Soon the kingdom of Delujahz began to attract folk who sought shelter from the Dragon Kings. King Lujahz begot 2 sons, The eldest became the King, Lujahz the III. Lujahz the III begot two daughters and a son, who was named Merrick, who, when he took the throne,renamed the kingdom to Delujahz. Merrick grew into a great king and begot two sons and a daughter then finally a set of twins. The eldest son drowned and died in the Loch, the 2nd son was given the throne. The daughter was married off to a Barony to the west and the twins were separated. The female twin was found poisoned in her bedroom, and the male child was whisked away to safety to a barony to the south. Lujahz Baremtian was exiled from his castle after his son took the throne and his wife died. Lujahz was last known to be running the Barony of Green March to the west. He died while ruling the barony. There is rumor of a Prophecy. This isn't so much a rumor, as an actual prophecy that is against the law to retell. Legend and prophecy state when someone finds and uses the Brass Shield of Fandril, originally held by King Lujahz, the owner of the shield will be rightful ruler of the kingdom. No man, of any blood or heritage may dispute the rightful heir to the throne.

RECENT EVENTS:

A band of brave adventurers entered the sleepy town of Benwyck. They began gaining favor of the barons and nobles that owned the surrounding land. Soon their travels took them south and into the barony of Flendem. One of the party found a shield. A dragonborn knight took the shield and began using it, not knowing he had found the Shield of Fandril. This made the Dragonborn rightful king to the throne of Lujahz. This brought the Adventurers into direct conflict with the usurper prince Andru. Soon the Dragon knight and his party took ownership of the southern keep of the Flendem barony, and reclaimed the land for the people. More nobles and other land barons soon rallied behind this dragon knight and they overthrew the Usurper Andru, who turned out to be a doppleganger. The real prince was dead for decades.
The people of Lujahz recognize the dragon knight as their new king, and follow the shield and whoever wields it. To this day, the adventurers were all given Baronies and were made part of the court of Lujahz.

BARONIES WITHIN:

• The Kingdom's Capitol is on the west side of the North River at the top of Loch Willow. It sits on the shore of the loch as well.
• The Barony of Stonegard to the North of the Loch.
• The Barony of Greenmarch is to the South and West of the Loch, but the baronial keep is ruined and not inhabited.
• The Barony of Willowgard is to the East and North of the Loch.
• The Barony of Glenrock is to the West and North of the Loch.
• The Barony of Flendem is to the East and South of the Loch.

DANGERS WITHIN:

• -There is a mercenary group running unchecked throughout Delujahz called the Red Hand Mercenary Guild. Thugs and bandits under a solitary heraldry.
• -Lizardmen and Hags have overtaken the swamp surrounding Greenmarch since it now lies in ruins. Whispers i nthe are of something worse has taken the keep itself.
• -Goblins and hobgoblins are pushing further into civilized areas to the North and West of Lujahz City, stopping trade and mining operations.
• -A watch tower North of Sloan in Glenrock Barony has collapsed and many members of the kingdom's guard have died there of unknown means
• -Many ships on the Loch have been pulled under by something that resembles a saltwater Giant Squid, but more deformed. it hasn't been spotted in whole.
• -The druid grove to the north east of the capitol in the Barony of Willowgard has been overrun by ettercaps and giant spiders. The archdruid is presumed dead.
• -Were rats have been spotted outside Willowshore in the surrounding woods.
