OVERVIEW:
Avronyxx is a myth that details an intriguing culture with the elder dragons of all colors, metal, and gems. The Great Game of Avronyxx is a chess game that pieces are every living creature on the world, and the game board is all of th continent of Edus. The game itself has hundreds of layers of nuanced rules and exceptions. Most dragons still do not know every rule of Avronyxx, and often must find ways to work around newly found and recalled rules to earn their glory within Avronyxx.
Dragons learned almost too late that fighting amongst each other with tooth and claw was a detriment to their entire power base on Edus. A set of rules, ancient and possibly Celestial was created in order for dragons to compete and best each other without loss of life. Instead of grand land wars, or invading countries by hordes of their followers, Dragons use small groups or indiviuals to complete certain tasks that earn them points within Avronyxx. These points determine which dragon is best, and which dragon has overcame an opponent.
JOINING THE GREAT GAME:
Once a dragon becomes of age (yet unknown) He can choose to become a "Drocal" (Drocalli pl.), or Player of Avronyxx. The dragon partakes in a secret ritual ceremony where they are stripped of any and all spellcasting ability, and are informed of the basic rules of the Great Game. At this time, the dragon has forsaken their subracial hatreds and see all dragons as equal opponents. Once the ritual is complete, the dragon slumbers for a time, while his mind reaches out across Edus. Peasants, ambassadors, adventurers, necromancers, and pirates all may be touched by the Drocal's mind, offering reward for their steadfast service and loyalty. These are agents who move throughout and within societies of Edus. Endrocai are hired from all walks of life, all races, and nations. Most Endrocai do not know they are working for a patron that is a dragon, and those that do know, do not know the subrace of the Winged Serpent. Upon awakening, a dragon begins to collect his newly loyal pieces, or "endroc (Endrocai pl.)", putting them to tasks.
Avronyxx is played in chapters, known as "claws". Each claw is a set time limit which is rumored to last fifty to seventy years. Within each claw, contests, challenges, dares, combats, and even diplomatic combat is performed between the agents, (sometimes, not even kowing they are being played) to an end. Most Endrocai only answer to a mouthpiece for the Drocal player. Some are three to five degrees separated from the Drocal, and may never know just how deep the secret of their patron really goes.
