A mighty warrior, a master of spell and sword, sundered the land and caused a portion to fly into the sky by using only his vast willpower. A group of master mountain dwarf smiths of different fields of expertise envisioned a race of manufactured beings that would work with the dwarven people as servants, soldiers, and laborers. They toiled day and night to build a body for one such specimen and presented it to their king based on the designs for the Fireforged that were provided to the dwarves of Khar-Garom by the Azer of Mount Blackcloud in return for their help in keeping the Azer's existence a secret. The king then gave them the service of powerful arcanists to animate the shells and give them their manufactured life to work for their dwarven masters.
A war waged between the army of Greenskins which included warriors from the races of goblinoids, orcs, trolls, and even ogre mercenaries and the dwarves, elves, and men of the realm with assistance from the various other racial minorities that sought to keep the greenskins at bay. Although the dwarves were the main force of the defensive coalition, it is important to note that they had help from their allies during pivotal moments in the war. One such moment was during the Siege of Dwarfbreaker Keep when a squadron of Human cavalry joined the siege when the dwarves were beginning to lose the battle.
