Yog-Sothoth
The Lurker at the Threshold, the Key and the Gate, the Beyond One, Opener of the Way
Divine Symbols & Sigils
A tentacled skull with many eyes.
Physical Description
Body Features
Yog-Sothoth's body is composed of thirteen bulbous, glowing eyes as well as many sickly, fluid-filled connecting nodules that form a rough 'gate' or 'portcullis' shape. Tentacles also protrude off of many of the nodules, though the exact positioning and number are known to fluctuate between depictions.
Special abilities
As an Outer God, Yog-Sothoth has the ability to break the minds of those who gaze upon him. He is also known to have some control over time and space, granting him some form of acausality. Possessing no mouth, Yog-Sothoth communicates telepathically. Beyond his immortality, it is also believed that he possesses a form of invulnerability as he exists almost outside of reality. This existence outside of reality also makes him partially incorporeal and it is widely thought that it also makes him omnipotent and omnipresent because he is peering into reality rather than formally existing within it.

Personal history
Born to the Nameless Mist, mate of Shub-Niggurath, and father of Nug and Yeb, Yog-Sothoth is a mighty Outer God. He exists partially out of reality, granting him vast knowledge and foresight. Yog-Sothoth is still capable of interacting with things within the universe despite his strange manner of existence. As a keeper of knowledge and secrets, Yog-Sothoth is revered by those who wish to unravel the unknowable and learn all manner of eldritch lore. He is known as 'the Key and the Gate' which, paired with his appearance, leads some to believe that he is a living portal to some other dimension. Some of these people also posit that Yog-Sothoth is actually the 'Ultimate Gate.'
After the Outer Gods and Great Old Ones were granted entrance to Edradus, Yog-Sothoth shifted his gaze towards that world and its inhabitants. Those who catch his gaze for a time may be granted pacts, insights, or insanity. It is believed that Yog-Sothoth is the one who drove Nazir Sassarid to pen the first copy of the Necronomicon in the capital of ancient Nasera. The Necronomicon is said to contain incantations and rituals that allow one to summon Yog-Sothoth to the world for a short period of time. It is also rumored that Yog-Sothoth can, and indeed has, fathered children with mortals.
