Vect
Vect
The vect are a race of constructs, a combination of magic and machine, that were created by the mountain dwarves of Khar-Garom in the year 472 of the first era from designs first drawn up by the azer of Mount Blackcloud. Originally, the vect were created to be a servitor race. They were given menial tasks such as mining and farming so that the dwarves could focus on honing their finer crafts. The vect were also used as soldiers and were noted for their service in the Greenskin War of Vukeron from the beginning to end of the conflict. Though, as of 1023 of the first era, the vect have been freed of their servitude by Metal Ox, an escaped vect slave turned adventurer, who not only freed his people but also killed the entire royal family of Khar-Garom before reforming their government so that the dwarves and vect could coexist and live as equals. The majority of vect are located upon the Iron Island of Metal Ox, though some choose to live in other cities and towns around Vukeron.A great warrior, Metal Ox is the greatest vect ever created. He has existed for hundreds of years, being crafted around the year 500 of the first era. He served in the Greenskin War and, somewhat ironically, later took up the sword of one of the orc warlords he fought against. This sword was even possessed by the intelligence of its previous wielder, Brogûl Dwarfbreaker, and the two became good friends. After his service in the Greenskin War, Metal Ox was forced to return to the gladiatorial pits under Khar-Garom. Not content with existing only to slay his kin, Metal Ox's resentment of the dwarves grew. Eventually, he escaped and began life as an adventuring warrior. His career as a wandering fighter and founding member of the Crimson Dragons is marred with the blood of hundreds of dwarves from Vukeron and the Lands Below. Many years after his escape from Khar-Garom, he returned to finally put an end to the royal family that had kept his people as slaves for so long. He, along with the twelve master smiths that created the vect, created a massive version of himself that stood nearly one hundred feet tall. With this colossal iron body, Metal Ox charged through Khar-Garom, smashed his way to the inner keep, and defeated the remaining members of the royal guards along with their horrid queen. Afterwards, he freed his people and made a home for them upon a floating island he created. Since then, Metal Ox has mostly kept to himself, preferring to tinker in his Iron Citadel than interact with those beyond his rule.
