The Pestilent Marshes
Geography
The Pestilent Marshes is the name given to the swamp to the east of the Dolview Abyss. Saturated with water from rainfall and the Dolview Abyss, the swamp is dominated by moss and vine-covered trees. Many areas of the swamp are bogged down and make travel slow, and many others are impossible to traverse by foot and require the use of a boat or raft to get through.
Fauna & Flora
The flora of the Pestilent Marshes is varied, with a number of different vines and mosses growing on the trees, as well as a number of different types of reeds and grasses growing in the area. The strangest plant found in the marsh is the darkvine. The darkvine is a special type of vine that was created by the Dark Druid. The darkvine is resistant to cuts and flames, making it a very desirable item in druidic circles.
The creatures that live in the swamp, however, are much more interesting. Crocodiles, giant lizards, giant snakes, and other reptiles, both giant and small, make their homes in the Pestilent Marshes. The sentient races of the swamps include lizardfolk, kobolds, bullywug, tortles, troglodytes, and grung, among others. The most intriguing beasts of the swamps, however, are the werefrogs and the froghemoths. A massive froghemoth, known as the Froggod, lives within the swamps with a large village of bullywug, grung, and werefrogs living around its lair. The froglike humanoids that live near the Froggod provide it with tribute in the form of food and worship.
