The Mask of the Chromatic King

Lore Overview

The Mask of the Chromatic King was first created in Era 1, 1225 by the adventuring party known as Varahosst's Host. The mask is a powerful magic relic that is viewed by followers of Varahosst as one of the most important items in the history of their religion. The mask was used by Xorenath and Gorlanthor to resurrect Varahosst ten millennia after his demise at the hand of Tiamat. The mask is currently used by the Chosen of Varahost, a dragonborn paladin named Xorenath.

Significance

This mask, itself the result of two to five of the chromatic masks associated with Varahosst being brought together, is a potent arcane and divine magical item. It gives its wearer a number of powers and abilities, though it is most noted for being used in rituals that directly affect the god Varahosst. It was used by Varahosst's Host to resurrect Varahosst in 1225 of the first era. The mask also holds a great deal of religious importance to worshippers of Varahosst.

In order for the Mask of the Chromatic King to be created, at least two of the following dragon masks must be brought into close contact with one another: the Brown Dragon mask, the Gray Dragon Mask, the Orange Dragon Mask, the Purple Dragon Mask, or the Yellow Dragon Mask.
