Cult of the Realm Shatterer

Structure

The Cult of the Realm Shatterer is led by their high priest who is called the Earthbreaker. Below the Earthbreaker are the priests, who are known as Shattered Sentinels. Finally, the remainder of the cult is split between initiated members who are given more trust and respect, and the uninitiated who, while still technically members, are not allowed to know the full activities, rites, and traditions of the cult until they prove themselves.

Culture

Members of the Cult of the Realm Shatterer are generally quite stoic and stubborn due to their philosophy of 'allowing the very earth beneath your feet to break before you do.' This unyielding nature makes initiated members formidable combatants because they are loath to retreat unless absolutely necessary. It also makes them quite dangerous, because members of the cult would die before allowing their ambition to crumble.

Public Agenda

The Cult of the Realm Shatterer is primarily in charge of managing Stogizan. One of the main known goals of the cult beyond that is to hasten the return of their lord, the Realm Shatterer himself. In the last century, the Cult rediscovered the tomb of their lord but was only capable of recovering his sword and spell tome due to a break in some time past. Both his body and armor were missing, leading to a wide search of the continent and beyond to locate any potential areas or individuals who may have these. It was discovered that Metal Ox had taken the armor and thus it has been decreed by the Earthbreaker that the cult must recover the item. Currently, nothing has yet come of this, but it is only a matter of time before actions are taken by one side or another.

Assets

The Cult of the Realm Shatterer is in possession of the floating isle of Stogizan as well as everything that exists on it. This allows them a wide deal of reach as they have access to every plane through the ancient portals on the island.

History

After the Realm Shatterer had created Stogizan, he attracted a cult following due to the vast amount of magical and physical might he possessed. This cult grew and they eventually erected massive portals to other planes of existence on the island as a testament to his vast might; to show that his reach and influence cross worlds. Trusted members of the cult were also chosen to construct the tomb that would one day hold their lord. The secret of the tomb's location was lost to time, as was the formula for creating the strange, purple adamantine-mithril hybrid metal that was used to create the tomb itself. Since these ancient times, the cult has rediscovered the tomb and sworn to recover their lord and his armor in order to bring him back to lead them once more.

Mythology & Lore

The main stories told by the cult are those of the Realm Shatterer's power. Great feats of magic, strength, and ingenuity are told by priests to lower members of the cult. Initiated members learn of the stories regarding the prophesized return of the Realm Shatterer, and how after his sacred blade, tome, and armor are united he may be brought back from the dead.

Divine Origins

The Cult of the Realm Shatterer was primarily formed by locals of the southeastern region of Vukeron but has since expanded to include people from all around the continent and beyond. After the Realm Shatterer broke the earth with his might and caused the newly sundered stone to rise into the air, many people came to see him as a godlike figure and began to worship him as such. His word was law, and it was recorded by the most trusted priests of this new order. After the death and entombment of the Realm Shatterer, the priesthood came together to elect someone to lead in his stead. This individual became the first Earthbreaker. Also in this convening of priests, the holy text known as the Word of the Realm Shatterer was produced after the Earthbreaker pooled together all of their collective knowledge and notes regarding what their god had proclaimed in life.

Tenets of Faith

Adherents to the cult's teachings know the Will of the Realm Shatterer by heart.
"And so it was decreed by He Who Broke the Earth, that you shall remain unyielding so that Edradus itself breaks before you. Training of the mind and body is essential, for without a strong body you will be broken by your enemy, and without a tempered mind, you shall be broken by the world."
