Bulwarks

Bulwarks, also known as Barrier Shields, are the most powerful type of shielding found on Eskelia, it is a combination of technology and magic, which in turn makes it Magitech. Bulwarks are typically only found protecting large cities and area's of strategic importance, this is because Bulwarks require a constant stream of not only physical energy but also magical energy as well. It is not uncommon for a King, Queen, or someone with a large amount of magical energy to be responsible for maintaining the Bulwarks.
How they are designed is different for each and every nation on the planet, some use large projectors while others create a lattice of emitters the span the city. There is a constant debate in the international community on which design offers better protection.

Discovery

Bulwarks were invented by the Askin Empire in response to the attacks by Daemon. It was decided early on that the technology, and the methods behind it, would be shared with all nations regardless of relationship in order to protect themselves from the Daemons; knowing full well that the technology could be used against them.
The MK1 version of the Bulwarks came out 1564 CR, a couple years after the Daemons began to make their appearance while the MK appeared in 3984 CR. The MK 3 was put into use in 4550 CR and is currently
