Leaving Caywold

General Summary

After waking up the day after Brew Fest, the group headed out to the east of Caywold towards the capitol of lower Heldan, Deshem. However, Manitour still unconscious from the previous nights drinking, oddly did not wake up the entire 10 day journey. With their barbarian companion asleep, Jedediah proceeded to spend his entire share of the rewards granted to them by the lord. He bought almost everything the small shop owner had, some of his purchases were questionable, such as a barrel filled to the brim with ball bearings, however Jedediah assured everyone they were absolutely necessary. With a cart filled with supplies and horses to carry them, they threw Manitour into the cart and headed out of the town.   Despite there being a road that headed south east and would have quickly taken the group to Waybrook were they could rest in a tavern mid journey, they headed directly east. After several days of mostly calm travel, they reached the border of the Theytah Woods. Kaliam, assuming he was the best fitted to lead the party through the dense forest, took charge and lead the way. They traveled for three days … before they realized, they were lost. In a lackluster attempt to ease the worry of being lost, that night Kaliam serenaded the party with tunes from his banjo... once again however, Kaliams decisions brought unfortunate events to the group. Drawn to the camp sight by the sounds of the banjo echoing through the forest, and seeing the party illuminated by the fire, an owlbear steadily watched them. Jedediah noticed the beast and attempted to launch a rock at it, his attack sadly hit a tree and startled the owlbear, leading to it rushing into their camp sight and charging straight for Jedediah who had tried to attack it. A swift fight broke out as Therakir slashed behind its legs, and Jedediah unleashed a bolt of magic directly into the attacker. During the short chaos, angered that he had now caused the party two misfortunes, Kaliam through his banjo at the beast, it shattered upon hitting its feathery body.   The morning after the owlbear attack, Jedediah took the lead, using his newly purchased climbing gear to ascend to the top of the trees and scout out which way they needed to be headed. Additionally, for unknown reasons, he had Therakir light an arrow and hand it to him, which he promptly fired eastward. After several more days of Jedediah climbing the trees to ensure they were on track, they made it to the edge of the woods just as the sun began to set. While the group decided whether or not to spend one more night in the woods or push on and set up camp outside the forest, Jedediah realized that the fire he had started had been put out. Assuming that this meant there was someone else in the forest and that they were likely not happy about the woods being set ablaze, the group agreed to continue moving and not set up camp until they were out of the Theytah woods.    Therakir informed the party that their destination, Deshem, was located at the bottom of the Great Heldian Desert, and that it was on the coast of lower Heldan. Agreeing that it would be smarter to follow the coast line instead of attempting to go straight through the desert and potentially getting lost again, they headed south along the desert's beach. Along the way the ran into a lone man, a man simply starring off into the sea, next to him a painting easel. Kaliam walked up to the man, and after a brief exchange of words, decided, in his glorious wisdom, the man needed to be put down. He pulled out his hand axe and slashed straight into the mans bare back killing him instantly. Kaliam promptly took the unfinished painting, placed it in the cart, and urged the group to continue.   Two days later the party arrived at Deshem, where they rested up, and kaliam attempted to pawn the painting...
