Hunlaf
Hunlaf
Out in the untamed wilderness, a threat stalks the land. Common folk spin tales of a giant red furred werewolf, terrorizing villages and towns, leaving them all but burned and broken. Whenever resistance can be mustered, they follow the beasts trail into the woods, hoping to finally put a stop to the scourge of their lands. Those lucky enough venture home empty handed. But the daring, who wish to be heroes, push further and further in until they find him in all his menace and wrath. They find him, but he is not alone. Werewolves, wereboars, wererats, and an assortment of banditry, flock around him like chicks to their mother. Hunlaf and his lycanthropic band will not go silently into the night.

Personal history
Hunlaf was born in the Kingdom of Rheged. His family lived quite comfortably as Hunlaf's father was a helping hand on one of the local sheep farms. Unbeknownst to Hunalf, his father was keeping a well hidden secret. This secret wouldn't come to light until Hunlaf was about five years old. Hunlaf's father was a werewolf and during the night of a full moon, Hunlaf's father was kept working overtime. This caused him to stay out longer than he had intended. Hunlaf's father transformed into his monstrous form and killed some his fellow villagers on the sheep farm. The village was in an uproar. Hunlaf's father was eventually found out and the village came after him and his family.
As the angry townspeople closed in on the frightened family, Hunlaf's parents knew that their child must live no matter what. They hid Hunlaf and diverted the town's attention towards them. The angry villagers caught up with them and killed them. Hunlaf remained hidden for three days while the townsfolk searched for him. On the fourth day they gave up and Hunlaf ran. He ran until his legs could no longer carry him. Lying exhausted in the wilderness, Hunlaf would've certainly died if it wasn't for the wandering Kattegat tribesmen. They found the young child and took him into their care to live amongst them. The Kattegat aren't a people of one race or creed. They're a hodge posh group of people who number in the thousands, and are made up of all sorts of different races and cultures. They're nomadic and trade goods and services wherever they might go.
In his time among the Kattegat, Hunlaf came to discover that he had the same curse of his father. That of lycanthropy. He was indeed a werewolf. But instead of showing fear, Hunlaf's fellow Kattegat tribesmen taught him how to control the wolf inside. Hunlaf was able to hone his abilities and became quite the powerful werewolf in his own right. He was no longer bound by the callings of the full moon, but could change his shape at will; having full control over his wolf-like form. Decades had past and the Kattegat wound up near Hunlaf's old village. Never healing from his trauma as a child, Hunlaf had always carried a desire to get revenge on those who had killed his parents.
Venturing out, Hunlaf re-entered his old village and massacred as many as he could find. When his deeds were brought to the notice of his fellow Kattegat, they were aghast. He was banished from the tribe, as Kattegat law forbids them from killing their own. Hunlaf began wandering the countryside looking for other lycanthropes to recruit into his own "pack." Together they'd lay waste to whatever village they could fine. They've always been elusive, and a massive bounty has been put on their heads. Score of blood hunters, bounty hunters, and mercenaries have gone out to claim such a reward, but none have returned.
Hunlaf and his pack would later have run-ins with a rogue druid named Ataulf. Ataulf had stolen an ancient druidic artifact known as the Heart of the Oak. Ataulf sold the staff to Hunlaf for a pint of ale. Once the staff was in Hunlaf's possession, he began looking for a buyer to become rich off this priceless artifact. He later found one. A man named Putrid Lord Eilmund, who led a cult known as the Priests of Blight. When Eilmund came to retrieve the artifact, a band of adventurers had made their way into Hunlaf's camp. Eilmund made his escape while Hunlaf did battle with these heroes who call themselves The Guardsmen.
The fighting was fierce. Vladimir led the charge followed by Kaolin and Kuonrad. Leigh tried to use his magic to overcome the beast, but it was of no use as Hunlaf was too quick and agile. Agnes tried to flank Hunlaf, and surprise him, but the alpha werewolf was too smart for that. He dashed over to Agnes, biting down on her shoulder, tossing her away like she was nothing. Hunlaf was then surrounded by Kaolin, Vladimir, and Kuonrad who dealt heavy blows while Leigh tried to support them with his magic. Hunlaf was able to break away, but not before biting down on Kuonrad, giving the paladin lycanthropy, and grievously wounding him. Finally, after many blows were dealt, Leigh casts a spell known as viscous mockery, which causes Hunlaf's heart to explode. The alpha werewolf was now dead, his legacy of pain and torment were gone with him, and his "pack" scattered to the wind.
