Blue Mountain Griffin Sanctuary

Located in the Blue Mountains above the Calanais river city of Clonabridge, the Blue Mountain Sanctuary is home to a group of monks known as the Blue Mountain Monks. They follow no particular deity, but believe in the detachment of material things. These material things and wants cause the suffering of all races, and they believe in order for those to achieve true enlightenment, they must let go of all worldly things. The Monks believe that this takes several life times to achieve and that one's soul is reincarnated after it has spent a number of years in the Otherworld. Only once one has reached this enlightenment can they live in the Otherworld without having to travel back to the material plane. They also keep a sanctuary of griffins. There are other monasteries throughout Laurentia, but this one in particular takes in wounded griffins to release them back into the wild. Wild griffins will also just come to the sanctuary in general, and it seems that the griffins know that this monastery is friendly and have taken a certain liking to the monks here.

Purpose / Function

The Blue Mountain Griffin Sanctuary is intended as a safe place of worship for those seeking true enlightenment. This monastery serves as one of many on the enlightened path. This monastery has also taken up nursing wounded griffins back to health and re-releasing them into the wild.
