Rhode Island

Rhode Island is a Theban village at the far edge of the Pellan Sea. Unlike most of the other islands in the sea Rhode was never explored or colonized by the Katon or Finn. Steep cliffs and a barren landscape meant the island was unsuitable for colonization.

In the 5th century LR an expedition was able to scale the cliffs and found extensive copper deposits in the form of Malachite and Tetrahedrite ore. Within a few centuries the Malachite deposits were mostly exhausted, but the harder to refine Tetrahedrite seems nearly inexhaustible. The Rhode Company has built a cliff-side port in a sheltered bay on the island and massive manufactory on the top of the cliffs.

A cable car system transports imported coal up to the top of the cliffs and refined copper ingots and antimony cakes back down to the massive floating warehouse ships and docks at the bottom.
