Croatan
Croatan was the first landing site of the Katon Empire. The Katon built a small colony here in their style. The town is built around a central square where all of the civic structures are including a temple to the Katon God-king. Today the temple has been rededicated to the Pellan pantheon.
The island of Croatan was ideally situated for a fledgling colony system. Abundant fresh water and dense poplar growth made it an excellent place to refit ships. To augment this, they planted citrus orchards and hemp farms in the surrounding lands.
Today Croatan's importance as a colony hub has waned significantly, but thanks to the underwater plateaus and mixing of warm and cold currents on either side of the island it is still an immensely rich fishing ground. Croatan industrial fishing operations bring Cod, Swordfish, Haddock, and Lobster back to Theban and Thessian ports.
Croatan is also the headquarters of the Croatan Ice Company.
