Session VI: Escalation
Where will you stand in the coming conflict...?
General Summary
With her prey clamped in a bear trap and all help currently running away terrified, Lilith Ilfictus drove her ethereal blade into Dixie Emmendorpher's abdomen. A fight ensued, overcoming illusory fears and destroying defunct gearheads, before it ended with Lilith teleporting away with the detective, Marlowe Revoire. As the green fog began to roll in, the Displacers fled with only the strange meeting notice and Lilith's sabotage plans. As they raced against the fog, they found the corpse of Marlowe about 500 feet away from the campsite, bleeding from no visible wounds. His eyes, however, were pure white.
Returning to Pippen's Lab, informing him of the situation, he became concerned that this discovery would dramatically escalate the tension between The Everlight Empire and New Vespera. As a result, Pippen invited the Displacers to accompany him to the Eastern Eclipsium Summit taking palce in Elscyra. There, they would discuss the recent aggressive actions of the Everlight Empire.
In exchange for their investigations into the Gearhead malfunctions, Pippen identified the components that the party would need in order to fabricate a new Planar Core for the Displacer. He informed them that they would need a navigation component and an anti-magic component. Apparently, the party already extracted an Anti-magic component from the Gouger they encountered in the Far Realm. He offered to give them his navigatory component on the promise that they would become a vassal of New Vespera, to ensure that in exchange for Pippen's help, they would have a say in how it was used. After tense discussions with Tyrus Holt, he agreed, without knowledge of the Displacer's existence, but simply in agreeance that the Empire's hostile actions would likely catch Echo Falls in the middle of a conflict they would not want to be apart of.
Ideally, vasselization would provide a disinscentive for the Empire to harass Echo Falls, but at the cost of how much escalation between the two major powers.
