As gods do, some grew to be dissatisfied with their limits to only their realm. Eventually, some learned how to influence and invade other realms. This led to the gods Aresis (God of War and Conquest), Llyria (Goddess of Shadow and Deception), and Vulkran (God of Fire and Destruction) to begin learning to cross realms and attempt to seize power in other realms. This led to the events of The Shattering. This started on a small scale, individual and adjacent realms began to destabilize due to Aresis and Vulkran. Alliances began forming as other gods began hearing of these incursions and conquests. With these alliances, Llyria used this opportunity to subvert and lead to betrayals, which led to a final Total War.
  As each of the realms fell into war and chaos, the primary victims of the suffering were the mortals and beings of the realms, who devoted themselves to the deity of the realm. As the Total war began to escalate, there was untold destruction and pain. Untold suffering and unheard prayers and cries and echoes of pain from all realms were felt by their patron deities.
