The Emberborn

The followers of Voryss, known as The Emberborn, are not an organized faith but a movement—restless souls who embrace change in all its forms. They are revolutionaries, wanderers, artists, and warriors who reject stagnation, seeking to forge themselves and the world anew.   Their core belief is that nothing should remain unchanged, and that growth only comes through destruction and rebirth. They see hardship as a crucible through which strength is born, and they seek to break the chains of tradition, society, and even fate itself.   The Emberborn have no central temple, for to settle is to stagnate. Instead, they gather in ever-moving camps, burning their old dwellings behind them as they move forward. They believe that the past should not weigh upon the future, and many of them take new names with each great change in their lives.   Among them, there are Firewalkers, those who have survived the flames of Voryss’s trials and emerged transformed. They are marked by ever-burning embers upon their skin, their eyes flickering like candlelight. They are said to be able to walk through flames unscathed, and their words carry the power to inspire—or to incite chaos.   One of their most sacred rites is The Ashen Rebirth, where a follower willingly casts aside all that they were, walking into fire to let the flames decide their fate. Some emerge changed, with new purpose and new form. Others are consumed, their souls joining the great fire of transformation.   Their holy text, The Flickering Manifest, is not a book but an ever-changing collection of writings, burned and rewritten with each generation. It does not contain laws or commandments, only stories—tales of change, of destruction, of rebirth, each shifting in meaning depending on who tells them.   The Emberborn are both feared and revered. To the oppressed, they are liberators, burning away the chains of tyranny. To the rulers of stagnant empires, they are anarchists, the spark that threatens to consume all they have built. Wherever they walk, they leave behind not just ruin, but the promise of something new.
