Nyctalf

The nyctalf is a highly predatory creature that uses it's naturally iridescent black fur to hide itself in shadows. At a distance, the Nyctalf can be mistaken for a dire wolf or other large canine. However, the Nyctalf, upon closer viewing, is a quadropedal monstrosity that seems to combine both humanoid and canine features into it's roughly human-sized body. The Nyctalf's face is a distrubing blend of man and beast. It's icy luminescent eyes seem to showcase the creature's unnaturally high intelligence, and violent intent. The held expression of the creature is reminiscent of a silent scream, with features that seem to ripple like waves. The Nyctalf's limbs are unnaturally elongated, and covered in the same thick iridescent black fur as the rest of its body. Each limb ends in digits with stone-like claws so sharp they can rend flesh without effort. If one is unfortunate enough to be close to a Nyctalf, they can almost see a phosphorescent glow to the creature's limbs, almost glowing with residual energy from the creature's native plane. The nyctalf is a creature to be feared, not only because of it's abilities, but because the nyctalf will hunt not only for sustinance, but also for curiosity and twisted pleasure. It seeks to learn from the fears that it invokes in it's victims, and the chaos orchestrated as a result of that fear. Often these creatures can be found in places of profound sorrow, or ancient places filled with strong fearful memories and histories, which it can tap into to sustain itself during it's slumbers between meals.
Abilities:
Melding with Shadow: The nyctalf can effortlessly and instantaneously meld into the shadows, becoming nearly invisible to the naked eye. Only brief glimpses out of the periphery of one's vision have been used to describe the victim's awareness of the nyctalf's location when shadow melded. And, it's movements between shadows and lit spaces is almost seamless, blending in and out of vision instantly, almost slipping between tears in reality.
Dream Snaring: If a victim of the nyctalf looks into the eyes of the creature, a nyctalf can induce a paralysis, trapping the victim in a waking dream, filled with cosmic and abyssal horrors. This saps the willpower of most victims, both leaving them vulnerable to physical attacks.
Illusory Rifts: The nyctalf can tap into the energy of the void at will, creating vivid illusions meant to confuse, intimadate, and torture it's victims.
