Argonessen

The following is an excerpt from famed dungeoneer and dragon-friend Martus Makfleye d'Phiarlan 's epic travelogue Onward to the Past: My Adventures in Eberron.
Picturesque Argonnessen is land of breathtaking natural beauty, rich culture, and magical wonders as yet unimagined anywhere else in the world. The continent is almost entirely unexplored. It's beauty goes unseen by the world at large, it's resources untapped, and it's treasures un-pillaged. How, you might wonder, can this be so. Sweetums, you might say, don't we have some vacation time coming? Perhaps we should pay a visit to this Argonnessen I've been hearing so much about. Sadly, chaps, I'm afraid I must advise against it. Argonnessen is the mysterious, wonderful, jewel that it is owing mainly to the fact that it is inhabited primarily by dragons. If you've had the good fortune to know as many dragons as I and you know them as well as I do, you'll know it's true when I say that even the nicest, most accommodating dragon can get a little cranky when you interrupt her "me time." Now imagine how an ill-tempered dragon might respond if you come knocking uninvited when he's just sat down to dinner, and you'll quickly understand why you'd have better luck spending your holiday literally anywhere else. (The Demon Wastes actually are lovely this time of year!)   Off the coast of Argonnessen lies Seren Island. Seren is also generally off-limits, but I must confess that Tok the Brownie and I contrived to overstay the short visit we were allowed (on account of having saved the life of the dragon, name redacted, when we traveled to the Dhakani Empire on our third voyage through the temporal rift) and did manage a bit of unsupervised poking around. There we met, of all things, a tribe of dragon-worshiping human barbarians. It was only one of many, we would learn, and these "Seren tribes" could be found living on Argonnessen proper as well, to hear them tell it. Why the dragons tolerated these humans and not others I can't say for sure, but I suspect it has a great deal to do with the "dragon-worshiping" bit. For gargantuan, nigh-immortal, elemental-spitting, masters of magic, a great many dragons need a great deal of ego-stroking by creatures a great deal smaller than them.   We also befriended a clan of dragonborn on Seren. ...Well, we befriended one dragonborn outcast; the rest of the clan seemed intent on chasing us down and murdering us, which leads me to my tale...
