A special classification of firearms that contain a line of coding throughout the gun that causes a chain of magic effects to activate. The term Thread comes from the coding on the inside of the barrel that lays on the rifling. This differentiation is important as the skill level required for coding and threading are worlds apart. Additionally the structure itself is The thread protects the barrel from magic erosion and increased stress from magically enhanced bullets. If the code were to be laid out flat it would appear like a beautifully intricate sewing pattern of arcane writing. Maintenance can only be done by making a DC 10 Arcana and DC 10 Sleight of Hand check or by using a means to detect magic (Truesight or Detect Magic). Failing either check prevents you from making progress in maintenance and you must wait another hour to do so.
