Session 7, 10 Therendor 998 YK

Chaela's Skills & Feats:

Mage Hand Legerdemain: When she casts mage hand, she can make the spectral hand invisible, stow or retrieve objects, or use thieves’ tools to pick locks and disarm traps at range. She can disguise this with a Sleight of Hand check, and she can use the bonus action granted by her Cunning Action to control the hand.   Actor: She has advantage on Deception and Performance checks when trying to pass herself off as a different person, and she can mimic the speech of another person or the sounds made by other creatures that she has heard for at least 1 minute.

General Summary

After the morning shopping, and recouping Therin's coinpurse from Canon the young halfling thief in The Bazaar, they began to make their way to Malleon's Gate to meet with Keth in "Tinker's Gold Dragon".

Meeting Chaela Tas... Finally

The group was immediately approached by a shady-looking half-elf who introduced herself as Chaela Tas. She specializes in fixing people up with what they need in Sharn. She was willing to offer her services to the party for a small annual fee of 100 galifars each. Chaela all but admitted to being a member of the Tyrants. When they agreed to the fee, she presented them each a Sending Stone that only works in Sharn. As compensation for their efforts with Sephona and The Crooked Mirror, she also offered to have one of her "associates" in Wroat pretend to be Diggory to ensure Cavallah gets the impression that the man is on the run.   The services that she offered are as follows: • Access to black market buying and selling.   • Scalped airship and lightning rail tickets. Tickets through Chaela are half price, though using them requires a Charisma (Deception) check of 9. On failure, the ticket is confiscated and the Sharn Watch is notified (fine/consequence).   • New identity. A new identity costs 3,000 galifars and comes complete with paperwork and a disguise. Charisma (Deception) checks made in connection with this new identity have advantage for six months. The identity becomes out-of-date in one year and after that Charisma (Deception) checks made to use it are at disadvantage. The identity is a new creation and this does not allow a character to impersonate an existing person or a race other than their own unless they are a changeling. A character caught with a false identity suffers the consequence of that action, and the new identity is compromised.   • Use Chaela’s information network. For 100 galifars, a character can use her information network for a +4 bonus and advantage on a single check for Investigation, History, Religion, or Arcana, as well as any other appropriate, information-based check that allows for at least 24 hours of work.   Chaela expresses to the party that she is working on setting up a meeting with "Tyrant One" and asks for their patience.

It’s Not a Date!

As the party entered the bar, they realized that there might have been a misunderstanding. Glittergem asked her friends to grab a drink at the bar while she rapidly fixed herself up in the bar's bathroom (even adding her pink stiletto heels for an extra effect) before joining the "spiffed-up" Keth at a table. The awkward half-orc then discussed the means that they would be using to hide Diggory's survival from Cavallah.   During the conversation, Keth divulged his true reason for coming to Sharn. He has been assigned a task by the Daughters of Sora Kell to seek out their "avatars" in the city and compel them to meet with the hags in The Great Crag.   He also expressed his distaste for being aligned with Cavallah. He knows that she is targetting the Boromars for her own interests, and that she commands Daask through fear. He knows another leader in Malleon's Gate that has no love for Cavallah and intends to introduce the party to her soon.   At the end of this conversation, Diggory Smith gives up his tophat and promises to lie low in Glittergem's apartment while the issue with Cavallah blows over.

Getting a Drink:

While Glittergem and Keth brokered their deal (not a date!) Therin, Rare, and Erisna got to know each other a bit better.

Meeting Nozira Grackle

While traversing Lower Dura, the party heard a shout from above and then a crash as a jewelry box smashed on the pavement and burst open. The crowd in the street frenzied like sharks as they snatched up the jewelry and then fought over it. A young gnome hung from the edge of a bridge forty feet up and cried for help.   Springing into action, the party rushed to save the young gnome and recover her jewelry. An invisible Glacias spooked the poor girl, but a quick-thinking Glittergem caught the plummeting creature with Feather Fall. Therin and Erisna both recovered the jewelry from the mob and prevented other desparate urchins from stealing more. Nozira thanked the party for their efforts, expressing that the jewelry belonged to Ilsa Boromar and that she was terrified of what would have happened if she came to the manor empty-handed.

Traffic Jam in Lower Dura

While out looking for a target of his frustration, Therin encounters a traffic jam forming behind an ogre pulling a handcart through the street. A man near Therin chucks a chunk of plaster at the ogre, drawing his ire. Erisna heard the commotion and came to assist. The ogre was fed up with the abuse from the impatient humans and halflings behind him, and tore at them with broad swipes. Defending as many people as they could, Therin and Erisna beat the ogre unconscious and watched as the Sharn Watch carted him away.
