Kalen's Tor in Eberron | World Anvil

Kalen's Tor

Kalen's Tor is a floating village that slowly drifts across the skies of southern Breland. The city consists primarily of a singular tower, belonging to the retired archmage Kalen Das, with smaller houses and huts tacked on to its sides, and even under the floating foundation of the makeshift fortress. Though the village is horribly overcrowded, they continue to find homes for the weary refugees they come across.

History

Archmage Kalen Das spent 30 years in the Brelish Army before he retired to Mistmarch in 959 YK and built his tower. He amassed a small following of magewrights and hedge wizards who learned a great deal from the powerful but magnanamous mage. In 981 YK, after a village had formed around the base of the tower, they were attacked by a Cyran battlion that laid seige to the fortified structure. The Archmage and his students had anticipated this event, and activated their prepared glyphs to lift the small village into the air, and guided it away from the Cyran unit that was too shocked to give chase.

The Archmage's Tower

Though Kalen Das is generous in admitting refugees to stay in his floating villages, he is very particular as to who can enter his tower. Only the Archmage's students are authorized entry, and some of the refugees have even started rumors that Kalen is performing experiments on some of the refugees that he has "saved".   The tower has no discernable doors or windows, only a single balcony that The Archmage uses to address the village. Occasionally he can be found walking through the village offering magical materials to better the lives of those in the village, but those encounters are rare.
