Znir Pact

The Znir Pact are a large community of gnolls who control the regions of Znir and Stonejaw Keep in Droaam. Their history is covered in more detail in the Gnoll article.   When the Znir Pact was formed several hundred years ago, the gnolls rejected their origins as demon-worshippers. They shattered the idols of their overlords and declared that they would never again be bound by gods, fiends, or other masters. They placed the bond of the pact above all other bonds, and left the shattered remains of their idols as reminders of where they came from, and where they must never return.   The leaders of the Znir Pact have no desire to rule over other creatures, but even just holding territory would invite attack from others. This led to them developing the path that would carry them forward to this day. The gnolls claim no territory beyond the lands around Znir, but they fight for any who pay a fair price. If anybody attempts to enslave a gnoll, or to strike against Znir, they face the wrath of the entirety of the Znir Pact. This was a lesson that had to be taught many times, but eventually the point had been made. To those who paid and respected them, the gnolls were as reliable as the stone they named themselves after. Those who betrayed them aren't around to speak of it.   The gnolls of the Pact range all across Khorvaire, but all of the clans return to Znir at least once a year to rekindle the pact and share their stories with each other.   Currently, roughly half of the Znir Pact is contracted to the Daughters of Sora Kell, which has led to the general perception that they themselves are part of Droaam. This actually isn't the case, the Znir Pact is and has always been independent, but the Daughters are careful to ensure that they always have a majority of the gnolls on contract, effectively making them a private army.
