Vvaraak

Vvaraak was a powerful black dragon, and the individual that taught the first Gatekeepers and created the first druidic traditions, over seven thousand years ago. The dragons of Argonessen named her the Scaled Apostate for this, though some still refer to her as the Ebon Mother.   In the wake of karash Ourelonastrix, teaching mortals magic was not something to be taken lightly. The dragons had seen what happened when they taught the giants of Xen'drik, and how that ended. Vvaraak had foreseen something in the Draconic Prophecy, a great wound on Eberron that the dragons would not be able to contain. She went to the Council of Argonessen and made her case, pleading with them to share the secrets of druidic magic, that the world might repel and repair whatever threat was coming. Her request was refused, but she believed that her vision was accurate and that the world could not afford for the dragons not to act.   She taught the orcs of the Shadow Marches how to harness and manipulate the power of Eberron, so that they would be ready to fight this threat when it came. She remained with the orcs for about a century, before departing to spread her knowledge elsewhere on Eberron. It is unknown what became of her after she left the Shadow Marches.   The Gatekeepers believe that Vvaraak established their traditions to combat the Daelkyr when Xoriat became coterminous, but she was never able to confirm that this was the threat she had foreseen. Nevertheless, the world would have been worse off if her disciples had not fought and sealed the Daelkyr.
