Order of the Emerald Claw

Originally a knightly order from Karrnath, the Order of the Emerald Claw has been declared a terrorist organisation by the Karrnathi government and it's members are charged with numerous crimes against Karrnath and it's people, and against the rest of Khorvaire.
The Order of the Emerald Claw now operates as an underground network of cells spread out across Khorvaire, composed of guerilla fighters, terrorists, and necromancers. They claim to be driven by patriotism and their faith in the Blood of Vol, but their actions don't mesh with the beliefs of the religion they claim to adhere to. Most worshipers of the Blood of Vol are quick to point out that they don't accept the order's claim to membership in their faith, and the high priest of Atur, Malevanor, has publically condemned their actions.
The order was one of many chivalric orders established in 896 YK, in the wake of Karrnath being hit by several major setbacks during the early years of the war, and a famine that could have brought the nation to it's knees. The Blood of Vol and it's necromancers were able to shore up Karrnath's defenses and give the nation a chance to recover amidst plague and famine, which would otherwise have made it easy pickings for the likes of Thrane or Cyre. The Order of the Emerald Claw was infamous amongst the chivalric orders of Karrnath, and was often sanctioned for their brutal treatment of enemy soldiers, and their slaughter of civilians to bolster their undead ranks, something which was explicitly forbidden by Karrnathi law.
When Kaius ir'Wynarn III took the throne in 991 YK, near the end of the war, he turned against the Blood of Vol. The chivalric orders were ordered to stand down and disband, and many members of the Order of the Emerald Claw specifically were condemned as war criminals. Most of the orders complied with the edict and disbanded, but the Emerald Claw refused and were outlawed. It's members scattered across Khorvaire, but the Order enjoyed a surge of new membership following the signing of the Treaty of Thronehold as many Karrns believed their king had betrayed them by suing for peace.
