Matshuc Zaal

Matshuc Zaal is a fortress that lies on the border between Breland and Darguun, on the Brelish side of Marguul Pass. It serves as an important defensive structure for Darguun, and acts as a border checkpoint for those travelling through Marguul Pass, both in and out of Darguun.   During the Last War, Breland commissioned and built a number of floating fortresses, which it used to great effect. The last of these to be built was the fortress Veldarran, which was completed in 970 YK and immediately deployed against the rebelling goblinoids in Eastern Breland/Southern Cyre.   Veldarran travelled to Marguul Pass, now declared a territory of the newly named Darguun, in an attempt to quell the rebellion and seizure of land. This would prove to be Veldarran's final resting place, as not even it's incredible might could deter the rebels, and Veldarran fell to the goblins.   The husk of the floating fortress now permanently resides in Marguul Pass, practically blocking it. The fall of Veldarran was a heavy blow to Breland, and was potentially one of the reasons that Breland didn't produce another floating fortress afterwards. The goblins renamed the fortress Matshuc Zaal, and it now serves as a constant reminder of what the darguuls will do to defend their new homeland.
