Elven Sign

The Elves of The Shards had to learn a new way of communicating between themselves when their slave masters disabled their voices for fear of their magic. The elves used to lose their tongues, and indeed there are still a few of those original elves among the slaves. Nowadays the Orcs are damaging their vocal chords with a new machine that the dwarves came up with. this hurts it enough so as to take away speech, yet there are no complications with injury.

Geographical Distribution

Only used in the land called The Shards by the elves that live there.

Morphology

Each sign is usually a word that strings together quickly by flicking the fingers in rapid movements. The elves dexterity is helpful in this speed, as other races have a difficult time copying it at this speed.

Vocabulary

Instead of coming up with a sign for every word, the elves came up with signs that mean situations as well. Things like "Bored in rain", or "Would love to hit him" are good examples.

Orc

The Elves have a special sign for Orcs. They hold their two midle fingers with their thumb and point the outer two fingers out like horns. This represents their tusks and then they use this symbol and puts it somewhere. If its at their forhead, that means "Dumb Orc". If its in their ear, it means "Listen to this idiot", and if its held by their crotch....well use your imagination.
