Lockjaw

Description

Lockjaw is commonly spread by bacterium that live in rusted metals. It especially afflicts soldiers who are injured by rusted weapons, and has historically been weaponized by militaries, before becoming largely disfavored due to international agreements on all sides. Symptoms manifest 2 hours after becoming infected, leading to paralysis of the jaw. If left untreated, it takes 24 hours for a body to fully paralyze, leaving behind small marks like rust upon the body. Healers often use this as a time counter, as it grows until it covers the entire body in a rust-like hue, killing the victim with violent seizures after 48 hours. A restoration spell can cure it, but often leads to relapse; heating areas for five minutes with hot metal, or burying affected limbs in desert sand is a cure.
