Druidshaunt/Witchrot
Description
Druidshaunt, or Witchrot, is a disease rumored to be spread by druids and witches, in retaliation for damage done to their homes. It is especially associated with Dread Witches and Wild-Witches. The disease is typically carried by rodents, but may be transferred to larger animals, though it is dormant in both. It transfers to mortals on contact with the animal, and may also affect Fey, though they are generally more resistant. After about a week, the victim begins to develop fever, nausea, and photophobia; the day after, the lymph nodes swell and begin to bleed. Most people die from severe bleeding in two to three days. Bleeding creatures make a DC 10 Con saving throw every hour. On a failed throw, their maximum health is reduced by 5. The DC is increased by 2 every 6 hours, even if the infected creature succeeds at its saving throw. Sparkleaf is a potential cure, and magic can prolong life, and removal of lymph nodes can sometimes prove successful. Before symptoms set in, more practical methods can prevent onset; after this, it is often too late.
