The Peacemother
Danyra is the deity of diplomacy and order and the mother of nations. Her followers vary greatly in their exact traditions, though their most common distinction is clothing with a silver or golden trim. Amongst her Fey followers, a sprinkling of
Feydust is often carried and offered before their service as mediators begins. Danyra is typically symbolized by a gold-and-silver ouroboros of chain or rope, which is thought to represent her "locking" herself around the nation in an act of protection. Some associate this ouroboros more directly with the walls of a city themselves.
Danyra's followers are known as her
children, though they do not have a specific center of worship. Instead, her sacred ouroboros graces most town halls, courthouses, and diplomatic chambers. Those who work in these institutions view their efforts as intertwined with hers, and thus regard every action as guided by her hand. Corruption thus tends to be viewed quite negatively, as a direct insult against Danyra's name.
Danyra's wisdom can be found in the 1st and 4th of
The Seven Theses alongside her daughter
Fae'len and lover
Thear. She is a rival of
Yerev and
Vyr, though for vastly different reasons: she abhors the former for his drive to destroy the order she creates, and she abhors the latter for the ruin which he inevitably brings. In particular, Vyr is often associated with corruption amongst her followers, as corruption is the cause of ruin in the machinery of the state.
Amongst the Wilds
Though Danyra is viewed as the mother of nations today, her worship predates them. Her strong associations with national diplomacy and urban order are merely reflections of her values in the modern world, however, and her worship is certainly not constrained to the cogs of the state. Beyond the bonds of urban life, Danyra's values more highly emphasize peace and mediation, with her practitioners serving to resolve conflicts and prevent hostility. This view is particularly common amongst followers of the Green Way.
