Vol. 2 Iss. 17 - The Sun Finally Sets
General Summary
FINAL SHOWDOWN WITH ATUM
Metro Force stepped forth from the World Tree and paused, collecting their strength before delving into the Unplanted Forest to confront Atum. The god stood ready for battle, prepared to unleash his powers. Despite the initial struggle, the team’s newly forged weapons—crafted by Ella—shifted the momentum in their favor.
Unexpected Treachery
Just when it seemed Metro Force had vanquished Atum, the Wardens of Spores and Pestilence appeared. They seemed to celebrate the victory—until the Warden of Beasts arrived, warning Malcolm (Warden) to flee. In a cruel twist, Spores and Pestilence betrayed Metro Force, and Atum rose once more, revealing a devastating spell that drained years from each member of the team.
- Trent (Zeus) accidentally channeled too much lightning, killing the Warden of Spores’ host body and forcing its spirit to abandon the fight.
- Driven by rage, the Warden of Beasts tore the Warden of Pestilence apart.
- Multiple heroes were temporarily incapacitated by the chaotic struggle.
Final Triumph
Drawing on their resolve, Metro Force rallied together to defeat the god of the setting sun. Trent struck the decisive blow using a spectacular electric construct in the form of Six the Baseball Monkey Mascot, a whimsical yet fitting symbol of their unwavering spirit.
In the aftermath, the team recognized the heavy price they had paid. Each hero had lost part of their lifespan to Atum’s magic. While they believed mutual support could lessen the damage, they knew none of them would walk away unscathed.
Homecoming and Healing
Upon returning to Earth Zero, they were met by the cheers and gratitude of New Yorkers everywhere. To the public, Metro Force remained unparalleled heroes, despite the personal cost of their triumph. In their absence, allies had overcome Fenrir in Central Park, and Mister Mystic alongside Wunder forces defeated the Hydra, allowing New York City to begin its path to recovery.
