Vol. 2 Iss. 11 - Friday Freakout!

General Summary

Body-Swapped Morning in Williamsburg

Metro Force woke up in a dingy Williamsburg apartment, discovering they had swapped bodies with one another and lost their memories of how they arrived. Each hero spent the morning grappling not only with someone else’s powers, but also with their daily responsibilities:

  • Malcolm (in Trent’s Body) and the Vet Visit: Trent’s cat, Apollo, quickly realized something was off about his owner, causing a comedic struggle. Malcolm gained newfound respect for Trent’s explosive electrical abilities—and Achilles approved of Apollo’s warrior spirit.
  • Ella (in Malcolm’s Body) Checking on Eco: A check-in with Eric, who was already emotionally fragile, couldn’t be postponed. Adjusting to Malcolm’s massive size and the nagging presence of the First Tree’s emotions, Ella walked away with deeper empathy for her friend’s burden.
  • Val (in Ella’s Body) at the Doctor: Val took Ella’s place at a scheduled medical appointment, discovering the awkwardness of controlling Ella’s combustion powers and the challenges of everyday life in a body that can spontaneously ignite.
  • Danny (in Val’s Body) on an Errand: Val had promised to send gifts to her fellow knights, so Danny swung by Ahmed’s bodega—in armor—to pick up T-shirts and trinkets. Experiencing Val’s heavier, less-mobile body gave him fresh insight into her patience and discipline.
  • Trent (in Danny’s Body) and the Address Change: Danny needed to fix an address glitch due to being declared dead for a year. Trent discovered how much he relies on his fame and personal style in public, and also came to appreciate the intricacy of navigating NYC at super-speed.

By evening, the team convened at Meg n’ Maggie’s Bar to vent about their bizarre situation and the frustrations of daily life in each other’s shoes.

Race Against Time in the Unplanted Forest

The next morning, Maggie provided new intel: the body-swap would soon become permanent if they didn’t act promptly. She directed them to an abandoned asylum in Long Island, where the villain Brainstorm was rumored to be hiding.

On the way, Ella—still in the wrong body—attempted to shortcut across the city using the Unplanted Forest. However, she lost her hold on it and ended up in the eerie diner-like domain of Atum, who taunted her about her inability to navigate Malcolm’s magic. He offered to “guide” them but left Ella unsettled by his cryptic demeanor.

The Asylum Showdown

Arriving at the rundown asylum, Trent (in Danny’s Body) rushed ahead, initiating combat with Brainstorm, a psychic mastermind who had controlled the staff and security for years. During the battle, their bodies swapped repeatedly, causing chaos as each hero had to adapt to another’s powers mid-fight. Despite the confusion, Metro Force successfully overcame Brainstorm’s mental manipulations.

After the dust settled and authorities moved in to help the asylum’s victims and transport Brainstorm to HARBOR, the team took stock of their predicament. They managed to revert to their original bodies, but the encounter had left its mark:

  • Ella recounted her brief encounter with Atum, fueling further worries about the ancient being’s influence.
  • Malcolm reiterated the disturbing fact that Atum had infiltrated the source of his magic, intensifying the looming threat.

As they regrouped, Metro Force stood relieved to be back in their own bodies, yet wary of the deeper implications: if Atum can meddle with one of them so easily, what does that portend for the entire team?
