Westview General Hospital

Westview General Hospital is the only hospital in Westview, Wisconsin in the Great American Alliance. Although it is owned and operated by the Engineering Brigade of the GAA, it caters to civilians. The hospital acts as a testing ground for new medical technologies, which gives rise to its constantly changing policies.

Thanks to the Engineering Brigade's sponsorship, the hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, which even have Solid Light Screens installed. Solid Light Screens, having only become manufacturable on a large scale recently, are expensive. The fact that such a small town can afford them is solely due to their sponsorship. The facilities of this hospital are constantly being improved upon and updated to match the latest and greatest technologies.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the Westview General Hospital is two-fold. Firstly, the hospital aims to provide medical care to the people of Westview and the surrounding areas. Secondly, they aim to test any new medical procedures on willing and eligible participants. They are the leading hospital in yearly procedural changes thanks to the near-constant testing.

Architecture

The hospital complex is made up of four buildings, and includes an emergency room. The buildings have an aged-looking brick exterior, but the insides are all pristine and well-kept. The handles of doors and other high-contact surfaces are made of a copper alloy to reduce microbial growth.

The main hospital building has four floors. The top two floors are made up of private rooms, and the bottom two the emergency room (ground floor) and various offices. The ICU, maternity building, and surgical center are similar in construction to the main building, but only have three floors instead of four.

Underneath the surgical center, there is an underground morgue which deals with the disposal of bio-waste and the corpses of the deceased. This morgue is equipped to store bodies if autopsies are required for any reason.

History

The Westview General Hospital's buildings were originally built as a part of a planned university campus in the early 2040s, but the plans were scrapped just before the buildings were completed. They stood vacant for twenty years before the buildings were bought by the Engineering Brigade of the GAA. The buildings were gutted and repurposed into hospitals over the next decade, finally opening their doors to the public as a research hospital in 2073 CE.
