CCPD Scientific Response Task Force "SRTF"

The Scientific Response Task Force of the Central City Police Department , or colloquially known as the "Science Police", is the official culmination of multiple task forces and initiatives over the years since the Particle Accelerator Explosion and birth of Metahumans to catch up and get a handle on the situation their own selves without being completely reliant on heroes. In addition it is also the upgrade to the CSI Division of the CCPD which was folded into the SRTF upon its creation.   Once Barry Allen became Director of the CSI Division he had a goal to reinvent the division into something greater. S.T.A.R. Laboratories was already a very active partner with the CCPD in providing them with technology that aided and kept the cops safe during superhuman encounters and disasters but Allen sought to make a team directly responsible for helping in those situations and making technology of their own as well. He began his reinvention by applying to grants, which he received, and a healthy donation from STAR which he used to revitalize the CSI Division from the bottom up and all departments, Forensics, Digital, and Pathology. He then added a Technical department to help build new tools and instruments for the CCPD to use. And his final addition and rebranding to the Task Force itself, a specially trained group of cops who are also scientists to use the tools they create to help people.   Director Allen spearheaded a new breed of officer, a scientist and protector, and has won many awards for his ingenuity and innovation as other cities follow suit. Often travelling to them to speak and help them set up their own task forces. His old lab at the top of the precinct has now been converted to his office and he answers almost solely to the Commissioner.

Departments:

Forensics: Where it all began. The CSI and Forensics division focuses on crime scene investigation and processing forensic evidence. It by far is the largest department and the core of the Task Force   Digital: In the new age of computers and technology came the rise of Digital Forensics. Some of the best computer scientists to go through any digital footprints to help solve a case   Pathology: Another core element of the original CSI Division, the study of the body and the crime scene to determine cause of death and evidence to send to Forensics for them to examine. Often performing autopsies and examinates on the body   Technical: A new division of engineers and robotics professionals who help build new tools and equipment for the task force to use in the field   Task Force: The most recognizable to the public and most commonly called the "Science Police", a tactical force of those trained as cops and scientists, these professionals come in particularly when there is disasters involving metas. They are trained to deescalate, detain, and rescue. While they have a few items of lethal force that is not their goal or their training and their tools are more designed to keep themselves and others safe while they defuse and detain threats. They also are equipped and prepared for disaster relief.   Examples of tools and armor:
"Energy Absorption Shield"- Special Riot Nanotech Shields that used to only protect from the Ray and Heat guns but now can protect from a vast majority of powers and energies
The B.O.O.T- Much more streamline now than it's original counterpart and the main weapon of the task force. While the old BOOT electrified the new sends out cuffs to equally tether and power dampen the target
The Uniforms- Tactical with lots of tools and pockets and special helmets and HUDs that help them evaluate situations and enviroments
