Pale Sandsifter

Calidris verneum alba

The pale sandsifter is a species of small Charadriiformes that patrol the costal regions of the Siccoran Ghost Desert (do we have a name for it? The white sand one). Filling a role not dissimilar from other shorebirds found across our side of the Earth, these sandsifters spend their days roaming the shorelines, using their spindly legs to trudge through the sand and probed beak to filter through the sand in search of food.

Both males and females sport a completely white plumage, save for black or brown rings around their eyes. Males sport a band of dark feathers around the head once reaching adulthood.

Pale sandsifters are known to migrate to the Shattered Atoll during their nesting season, where they often become easy targets for predators due to their bright white coloration no longer helping them blend in to their surroundings.
