Great Gigaphant

Deinotherium atrox

Marching across the Goldplains of Southern Lemuria is the Great Gigaphant, a massive deinothere ranking among the largest terrestrial mammals in the Hollow Earth. Standing 7 meters at the shoulder, it fears virtually nothing save for the few large predatory dinosaurs and dragons that still live in this region. Unlike its ancestors, the tusks of the Gigaphant curve forwards to better aid in interspecies combat and uprooting plants.

Described as abnormally aggressive even by proboscidean standards, the gigaphants are known to rampage over the slightest offence and kill everything in their path. This heightened aggression is believed to be an ancestral behaviour from a time there were more large carnivores capable of threatening them even as adults.
