Malchin

There is a large mountain range, longest and tallest in the world. Atop the mountains live the nomadic Malchinese people, below is a cave system spanning over 5,000 miles that is home to the kingdom of Asadal.

Geography

Large rocky mountains with snow capped peaks, gnarled wind bent trees and grassy valleys wrought with caves. Fresh water trickles down from the snow caps into pools and warm spring water emerges from the ground in the south. from the eastern most peaks the ocean can be viewed from far above. Fog settles into the lower valleys like rivers which turn pink in the rising sun. Below are formations made from stone and dripping water. A pale orange glow, so faint that the it can only be seen in total darkness is emitted from small crystals embedded haphazardly into the stone walls. It is unknown its they were placed there or were grown. Far beneath gem stones are formed and mined.

Fauna & Flora

There are many goats that call this region home on the surface. Hundreds of species of genetically isolated birds typically reside in the valleys and middle regions. Several carnivorous species such as bears and tigers prey on the goats as well as valley dwelling antelope. Flowers grow abundant in the valleys, as do larger trees and tall grasses. Further up grass is lower and sparser and the trees are mostly gnarled and wind beaten. Further up live mysterious white creatures and larger sturdier trees that resist the constant snow. Below are bats that glow iridescently, moss, mushrooms and sparse weed like plants grow while cave fish and salamanders are a common occurrence. Legends state the is a mountain god on the highest peak and a cave god below. The locals swear it takes the form of a giant goat with five eyes and protects the land from industrialization, below it is said to be a giant eight foot tall bat with iridescent wings which sleeps for hundreds of years. Neither are confirmed to exist.
