Gluttony's Awakening
Frank skidded and bounced across the ground like a stone skipped across a lake. He came to a stop after the 3rd wall he collided with.
Sarah dropped her wok and cleaver and ran to his side. Hanging on the edge of consciousness, Frank inwardly smiled at her show of concern for him. She wrapped her arms around him, attempting to drag him away, even if it only bought a few precious seconds.
An unamused and threatening voice sounded from the other side of the 2 walls he'd just sent Frank through. "You shouldn't have treated a battle like a food fight, boy."
Sarah glared at the creature as it stepped through the first hole, knocking a few more bricks out of the wall with his large frame. Behind him, a horse clad in armor and flames waited patiently. The horseman of war.
"Girl, move aside if you wish to live. There is no place for your affection on the battlefield."
Sarah trembled, but remained defiant, glaring at War as she continued to attempt to move Frank. Had she had any mana left, moving him would've been effortless, but each clash with the horseman drained an inordinate amount of her magic. Truth be told, she was in awe at Frank's ability to stand against him for as long as he had. She'd blocked 4 attacks and was essentially rendered magicless.
"I like that look in your eyes, girl. Strong, resolute. You have the heart and resolve of a warrior. I'll grant you both an honorable and swift death."
Sarah clung to Frank, not that she'd have been able to escape a horseman, let alone without magic.
The horseman raised his sword. "Any last words?"
Sarah met this question with a whimper.
"I suppose the boy has been rendered unconscious. Very well."
Frank managed to weakly grab Sarah's sleeve as the horseman spoke. For Sarah, time seemed to stand still as her life flashed before her eyes... and then her stomach rumbled, rather loudly, in fact.
The horseman paused, "I don't do last meals. I'll be sending you to the afterlife hungry."
*Rumble* a louder, ravenous growl. The horseman laughed and raised his sword higher.
*RUMBLE* This one gave him pause. It was an inhumanly loud rumble which vibrated the very air. It was something between a rumble and a growl, and he stepped back, as his severely dozen lifetimes of battle experience had warned him of something rare, of another entity that could potentially threaten him
There was a wave of pressure and a howl. This time it was a voice, and not a stomach. Sarah screamed as she momentarily convulsed as a foreign power flowed through her.
Her back arched, legs and arms twitched, her fists clenched and then stopped all at once.
Sarah brought herself to her feet and looked at her hands. They were twice their previous size, and clawed. Her arms hand also doubled in size, as had the rest of her. Fortunately, her clothes, which had reverted back to her normal attire some time ago, had changed. They were baggy and unappealing, but stretchy and comfortable. Her fatigue and lack of mana was replaced by an insatiable hunger.
Sarah found herself rightfully angry, but also excessively angry, as if there was someone else's anger dwelling within her.
She tilted her head in confusion, and also licked her lips, an action she did not intend to take. Her tongue ran over fangs as she did, and was thrice it's usual length. She wanted to ask a question, but the voice that followed was both hers and not. "You shouldn't take others' food, especially mine."
Sarah materialized another wok and cleaver, realizing that some sort of power was coursing through her. Without commanding herself to do so, she found herself charging at the horseman. It was an unsightly charge, made with her new proportions, but it was also much faster than she was capable of on her own.
The cleaver made contact with War's shield, sending a thunderous wave through the surroundings. She swung her wok, which met War's sword. She lowered her center and kicked, making momentary contact with War's shin before both of them pulled back. She could feel magic flowing into her as she made contact.
War scoffed, "You can keep the magi. I have no interest in fighting a Sin today, especially Gluttony."
War took a large and powerful backstep, making yet another hole in the wall. By the time the dust cleared, a neigh and hoofbeats could be heard retreating.
Sarah stood there in a bit of a stupor, and feeling satisfied for reasons she did not understand.. and then hungry. She turned to Frank, and found herself licking her lips carnivorously. She involuntarily recoiled at her own actions.
It was clear that she was not fully herself, and though she was thankful to whatever had just saved them, she was repulsed at the momentary thought of consuming a person, and very unenthusiastic about her very sudden weight gain.
"Fine. But you'll need me. And I'll need him." These words rang in her mind, speaking to her, not as her. What followed was an extremely unladylike burp, and Sarah' point of view lowered a few centimeters. Her limbs returned to normal size, as did her teeth and hands. Her claws were nowhere to be seen, and she had apparently recovered a reasonable portion of her mana.
Remembering not to look a gift horse in the mouth, she transformed, donning her usual magical chef attire before carefully placing Frank on a giant cutting board. She hoisted the board and it's contents into the air and took off to find much needed medical help.
