President of the Global Business Council
The President of the Global Business Council is the leader of the Global Business Council, and arguably one of the most important people in the world. As the GBC represents over 100 of the world's most powerful corporations, the President has significant sway over their decision-making. The current President is the former founder and CEO of Steiger-Wakeman Global Media, Albert Steiger.
The position of President of the Global Business Council was first established in 2028, following four years of the Council being led by committee. Much of the power of the committee was instead placed into the President, who ultimately has final say over the decision-making process of the GBC. While the amount of power concentrated into one position is significant, the members of the GBC consider the increase in efficiency worth the tradeoff. Early Presidents were selected from outside any member corporations, but later Presidents have come from the more powerful members.
The President effectively acts as a President in a national government, deciding on the Global Business Council's course of action and approving resolutions voted on by the member corporations. However, the President also acts as the face of the Global Business Council, representing it at various functions and hearings.
