Brunner's Focus Item in Earth - ClF3 | World Anvil

Brunner's Focus

While attuned to this Mage Focus you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls determined by the wand's rarity. In addition, you ignore half cover when making a spell attack.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The gemstone bearings inside the clockwork are magically tuned to respond to the verbal commands, somatic gestures and directed intent of the caster attuned to the focus. This then causes the clockwork mechanisms inside to align themselves in specific configurations. The metaphysically significant symbols are then aligned and oriented in accordance with the intent of the caster. Brunner's Focus specifically does advanced arcane calculations to increase the accuracy of spells fired using this mage focus.

Manufacturing process

The arcane sigils are etched into the clockwork components. Enchantments of durability are placed on the bearings. The bearings are seated into the clockworks and assembled inside the case. The appropriate facets are cut into the inside of the lens. The clockwork mechanisms are secured to the inside of the case and the case is thoroughly cleaned. The lens is secured over the mechanisms and the bezel is closed to secure the lens.

History

This is the original Mage Focus created by Elijah Brunner. Brunner's Focus is the standard for all Mage Foci that came after it and is still the standard issue Mage Focus for Swedish Mages. In 1910 Elijah Brunner's research resulted in this Mage Focus being the prototype on which all other Mage Foci would be derived.
